JA Guam's Team Ensena Wins JAAP COY 2nd Place Overall

The 1st place and 3rd place winners of JA Guam Company of The Year (COY) traveled to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and represented Guam at the JA Asia Pacific’s annual competition which highlighted the achievements of a total of 21 teams from Japan, Korea, India, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam.

The Program and Competition helps young people understand the role of business in the global economy by allowing students to organize and operate an actual business enterprise, and market and sell a product in the real world.

“It has been so rewarding, as a parent, watching Maddie and Guam's Enseña team put in months of hard work and bring their ideas to fruition. To be able to successfully compete at a regional level, they've proven that they are capable of anything. She's emerged from this JA season with more confidence in her abilities and with broadened horizons.” says Ally Fejeran, Enseña President Maddie Aguon’s mother.

Enseña won the Best Financial Management Award as well as 2nd place overall JA Asia Pacific Company of the Year!  Enseña is sponsored by Bank of Hawaii and their mentor / chaperone, Ryan Bamba has been mentoring student teams for six years now.  Their President: Maddie Aguon and VP of Sales: Ayanna Juico are both attending Academy of our Lady of Guam.  Enseña’s VP of Finance: Maximus Fisher, VP of Marketing: Kaden Candaso and VP of Production: Steven Bamba are all students from Father Duenas Memorial High School.

Lå’la’ won the People’s Choice Award which is an award selected by all the students participating in the competition.

We owe a huge amount of gratitude to Bank of Hawaii along with GVB, GEDA, Bank of Guam, Raymond James, GTA, Micronesia Mall, Graphic Center, IP&E Holdings as well as the Office of the Governor and Lieutenant Governor for all their support along the way.

“When people talk to our students and tell them that they are the youth of the future, I say NO, they are the youth of TODAY” says Junior Achievement Asia Pacific President and CEO, Maziar Sabet.
